Dominant Sabalenka Wins Back-to-Back WTA Top Player Honors.
The top-ranked player Aryna Sabalenka has been voted the Women's Tennis Association player of the year for a second straight season.
The 27-year-old secured four titles – the most on tour – which included successfully defending the US Open this past September against Amanda Anisimova to secure her fourth career Grand Slam singles triumph.
A Year of Dominance
Over the course of the tour, Sabalenka competed in a circuit-leading nine finals, with losses coming to Madison Keys in the Australian Open final in January and Coco Gauff in the French Open final.
The Belarusian also claimed victory at the Brisbane International in January, the Miami Open during the spring, and the Madrid Open as the clay season progressed. She spent the entire year as the world number one, concluding 2025 atop the rankings for a second successive year.
In July, she achieved the status of being the first athlete to top 12,000 WTA ranking points since Serena Williams in 2015.
Historic Statistics
Sabalenka ended the competitive year with a 63-12 match record, and collected a record eleven million pounds in earnings.
She earned nearly eighty percent of the votes submitted by international tennis media.
Later this month, she is set to play 2022 Wimbledon runner-up Nick Kyrgios in a Battle of the Sexes-style exhibition match with the aim of "help bring women's tennis to a new level".
