Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Discharged from Medical Facility in Lagos Following Deadly Road Accident
The British boxer Anthony Joshua has been released from care, officials in Lagos announced on Wednesday night. The fighter was involved in a car accident near Lagos on the 29th of December, a devastating event that resulted in the deaths of two of his team members.
Recovering from Minor Injuries
The sports star had been under observation while healing from his light wounds, his promoter had said on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on X that Joshua was judged healthy enough to continue his recovery at home.
“The boxer and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two friends who passed away as they were being readied to be sent home,” the official remarked.
Remembering the Victims
The victims of the crash were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. Omotoso added that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and full of emotions over the loss of his two close friends.”
His release from the hospital follows the boxing community shared its support for the champion in the aftermath of the devastating accident.
